According to information of the New York Times the US Government has ordered the killing or capture of the islamist terrorist, Anwar al-Awlaki.

The target is suspected to have had dealings with several terrorists in the US and elsewhere. Although a US citizen, this guy has no access to a lawyer, will not be tried, and has no means to show proof of his innocence.

Don’t get me wrong, I am willing to believe that al-Awlaki is a dangerous terrorist.

You have to ask yourself, though, what it means for a western country to break the division of power this openly, and putting a kill order on a citizen.
