Pumping

This is the best part. It feels like sitting in a sports car and stomping on the accelerator. Having done the cool-down, it is surprising: Your head is more than ready, almost eager, to push even more endorphins through your body. As if it had been waiting for you to switch from walking to running again, it rewards you with feeling fantastic.
It is long before this final ecstasy that I gain something from a run. It‘s not even about the workout, although physically you feel a lot better for sure. It‘s all about clearing your mind. This is when you outrun the heaviness of the day—without haste.
This is when the important feelings are felt. The major thoughts are thought. The big decisions are made. This is where I reconnect to myself and I think freely.

I know exactly what you mean. I often am able to figure more things out on my bike ride to and from work, than when I am sitting in front of my monitor. I always bike as hard as I can and find it very cathartic. Mind gets cleared and thoughts start to flow.
I experienced the most enlightened moments in the 300ms before I got knocked out in a fight (tournaments). Time stands still, you can think hundreds of clear thoughts in that short amount of time.
Hm.
I remember when I used to climb – there would be moments when you are so focussed on what you are doing – on that little bit of granite you have your finger tips on – that everything else would disappear. I guess it is more a zen thing, than a thinking thing. You are 100% in the moment – you just are, and do not think.
